Until the election of 1948, Texas ballots did not list the presidential candidates by name but instead listed the electors for each party. Since the individual electors’ vote totals varied slightly, given here is the highest vote received by any elector for a candidate.

An asterisk (*) designates the winner of the national election.
In the 1860 vote that elected Abraham Lincoln president, electors for neither Lincoln nor Stephen Douglas were on the Texas ballot.
Texas did not take part in the 1864 and 1868 elections because of the Civil War and Reconstruction.
