Thompsonville is a ranch community at the junction of Farm roads 649 and 3073, seventeen miles southwest of Hebbronville in northwestern Jim Hogg County. The community was settled around World War I and was probably named for Oscar Thompson, the first sheriff of Jim Hogg County. A post office was established in 1925 but discontinued before 1936. Several dwellings, farm units, tanks, and a school were at the site in 1948. In 1984 Thompsonville was a dispersed rural community.
