New Hope
New Hope is an incorporated suburban community three miles east of McKinney in central Collin County. It was established in the early 1850s as a school and church community for area farmers. The population level remained below 100 until the mid-1960s, when it began to increase. The town reported 250 residents in 1970 and 331 in 1980. New Hope by the 1980s had become a bedroom community for residents who commuted to nearby McKinney for work. In 1990 its population was 523.
